SPRING TERM,  PRE-K THROUGH 5TH GRADE

MINECRAFT MINI-GAMES

Don't just play Minecraft, build your own games in Minecraft. In this course students will learn how to visualize , develop and create a playable map using design and problem-solving skills.

Students will be working as teams to plan and create their own versions of classic minecraft games such as Spleef and Parkour. More advanced students will learn how to take their minecraft games to the next level by incorporating command blocks to create custom mobs, items and ideas to play with their friends!
Note: Students may bring a computer from home.

SCRATCH

Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web.  As young people create and share Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.

CHESS

Students learn about various chess openings, typical middle game strategies, frequent tactics, and endgame techniques to improve their game. Students apply these techniques playing real games that are reviewed by coaches to help them improve and build on lessons learned each day.

Instructor Jerry Sherrard has more than 6 years of experience coaching students of all levels from beginners to state champions. Coach Jerry has been teaching after school clubs for Mozek Games at OES for 5 years.
