VOSE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Vose is a kindergarten through fifth grade school in the Beaverton School District. The only Latino-majority school in the district, the school is rich with cultural resources. Approximately thirteen languages are spoken, and student heritage is celebrated through the Fiesta Latina, and school events throughout the year. The two-way Spanish-English immersion program runs kindergarten through fifth grade. There is currently a waiting list to get into this program, which is optional for all students.
The school has approximately 647 students, 73% of whom are English language learners. With 90% of the families at or below poverty level, Vose faces many challenges in assuring that no child is left behind. The school has instituted extended learning opportunities at lunch and through after school programs to address these issues. The teachers and staff are dedicated professionals, and creative in their approaches to Vose's complex demographics.
