Technology at OES
OES helps fulfill its overall mission by infusing its program with technology at every level, in order to enhance each student's ability to actively engage in OES’s culture of inquiry-based learning and to cultivate global collaboration and connections.
As a framework to achieve this mission, OES affirms and applies the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS). The NETS focus on the following six fundamental skills:
- Creativity and Innovation
- Communication and Collaboration
- Research and Information Fluency
- Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making
- Digital Citizenship
- Technology Operations and Concepts
MIDDLE SCHOOL LAPTOP PROGRAM
Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders use school-issued laptops in all of their classes. Each laptop comes with an “always-on” protective case, and both the case and the computer are owned and maintained by OES. During the school year, students are allowed to take the laptops home for school-related work, and during the summer the laptops are updated by OES before the start of the new school year.
